Default Open Water at McGregor Lake!

Had a great day boating with the family at McGregor Lake reservoir today!

Launched off the north end at the campground (a little shallow but not bad) and did my "break in period" on the new Merc. Watch for ice near the south east side (thin but avoided it anyway). Want somewhere close to Calgary to break in the boat/motor? This is it!

Lots of marking of fish and structure on the sonar and I can't wait for the open season! (yes I actually found structure with fish and no I won't tell where!)

Default break in time

The motor break in time was long!!! Amazing how a few hours can seem like an eternity! Felt good to finally open her up! On the plus side...moving slow you get to spot a lot of fish on the sonar!

In the merc manual it said to run the boat from 0 rpms to 4500 rpms for the first 2 hours with opening it up to full throttle every 10 min for between 30 to 60 seconds. Did you open it up with in the first 2 hours?

Congrats on the first ride, gage!! We're looking forward to the same. We're down to weeks now, not months- it's all about solace in the small things!

Spent 3 hours out n the new boat yesterday at little bow, what a day. The 2 hours did not seem that long at all. Everything went well and out fishing next weekend at the ridge..
