Default Rock lake

Does anybody know if the access road to rock lake will be an issue again this year? Im sure there will be a bit of springtime flooding but I'm talking more about the closure that occurred in July/August

Can anybody forecast how much rain will fall this year? Access will be an issue of we get a ton of rain again. Not sure what you mean by your question. The only way to ensure improved access would be to relocate the road in a few spots.

There is a pretty hefty snowpack in the peaks this year, the most since 2007.

I hope to do a recce trip to Rock Lake sometime around may long weekend just to scout out the road.

Me and some buddies got stung there last June. Made the crappy drive down the road from Hwy40 and the road was washed out 1km away from the lake. The road stayed closed for the majority of the summer after that.

Last time I was there 2 years ago on May long weekend. The lake was still covered in rotten ice but still managed to get the boat to some open patches pushing through the ice shards. Started raining the last day and the road was washed out. Managed to get out with the 4+4 but some other groups in cars didnt get out so easy. Gotta be carefull out there and go prepared for the worst....

Was out there about 5 years ago. Try driving that road with a 32ft motor home pulling a boat. I could only go about 20 mph and almost everything was on the floor by the time I made it to the highway.

ha yes the road to rock lake! It broke my boat trailer in half a couple years ago. I had to leave my boat at the lake, lash the trailer together with rope and a couple stout pine limbs before making the trip back to hinton. luckily found a welding shop still open up on the hill. After a little grinding an a fish plate i was good to go. Rock lake is beautiful and IMHO well worth the drive in. First two pics are my dad and I with little lakers caught on #4 x-raps. third and fourth the views looking west and east from boat launch.

I was at Rock lake last August and noticed they have put a nice big culvert in where the road had washed out.

I don't think that a washout should be a problem this year based on what I saw

Is best fishing right after ice off at rock lake?
Been wanting to go for a while.
How busy does the lake get on weekends? Still camping spots avail?

I wonder how the ice will be this may long.
