Thanx to all,

My little secret for those big trout, I like to scout which lakes in the east slopes are stocked, I then look at good topos around the area of the stocked lake. A short hike from an outlet stream will usually lead you to a gem of a small lake or beaver pond to fish from. Provided there is some good depth they will over winter in the stocked lake and migrate to these "forage ponds". Last summer it was 5 lb. trout after 5lb. trout. Two for the freezer was nice these trout are like salmon if not better. I generally don't keep the biggies but assuming they were stockers I figure two wasn't to bad.

Question for the more knowledgeable... would stocked trout spawn provided there is spawning habitat?

DR
