Default DIY WIFI for a fish camera

For the adventurous of you, if you fish camera has a video out, for 50$ ish you can add wifi to it. Yesterday I started to play with the linked unit it took all of 5 min to get this unit transmitting to my Iphone and my son’s android. The unit is not waterproof so some considerations are needed there, but it should be fun to play with.

I have an old iPhone so there was some lag but the new android device was as close to real time as it gets.

Would be an interesting project. I'd leave the transmitter out of the water and have a 25ft video extension cable to the camera. Alot easier to waterproof cable connectors than a transmitter.

thanks for the link!

I would suggest this as well. This would allow you to be able to keep it warm, too - Operating temperature bottoms out at -10 deg. C. as per the spec.

Oh yea, the plan was to leave the transmitter out of the water but I was wondering if I had to protect it from splashes.

Oh, for sure... Maybe you could mod one of those little Pelican boxes for it.

great idea! think I will do the same thing, since I have a 16 gig card in my phone. cheap and easy way to record all the fish that ignore my bait! The transmitter plugs into the monitor not the actual camera head, it doest get wet so no waterproofing needed. Unless you set the monitor on the ice.
