I have been to Piprell quite a number of times 5 to 10 years back. Recently, the main lake has been fishing harder as they stocked so many types of trout that it seemed to negatively impact the main lake - size and numbers down in recent years from what I heard.
The good part of Piprell (IMO) is the many other lakes in the near by region. The area has quite a number of good walleye lakes. Richard (son of Rick) is now running the cabins. I believe his dad Rick is running the campground. You can find out a great deal form either of these guys as they have been there for a lot of years now. Kit lake was good for rainbows. Lawrence good for walleye.
Don't go there expecting solitude as the camp is a little disappoiting if you expect a wilderness retreat. Many older shacks and ad-hoc cabins set up at the entrance. Quite a busy place. It is a good base camp for venturing out. They will sell gas, groceries, ice, a small amount of fishing supplies, bait, etc.
Also, a lot of the lakes are better accesses with a small boat, canoe, float tube, etc. When I travelled there, I would take my larger boat as well as a canoe which was great for the smaller lakes such as the Narrow hils area.
Good luck and let us know how the fishing was.
