Default Lake Newell Pike

Why is it the young lads always seem to land the big ones through the ice? This "wee" one was caught last week, and back down the whole he went!

Default Walleye

I have two walleye tags for Newell but I have never fished the lake for walleye. I would be thankful for any info that someone would be willing to share on ice fishing walleye as to where and how, thank you.

She's just a baby! haha...
Nice catch Matts.

Im glad to hear it was released. That caliber of fish should never be taken from its basin.

How deep did you catch em in?

Is anyone getting into the south end of Newall, either Little or Big Rainer? I'm thinking of heading down this weekend, but don't want to chance digging out of a deep snowbank somewhere.

Good fishing!

Thumbs up A Brute!!!

Wow!!! Makes you think twice before going for a swim with critters like that cruising around. Really awesome to hear she's back in the water for someone else to catch again. Nice work on the C&R. Good handling techniques too.

If you go past the turn off to the prov park go about a mile there is a road that goes west to the lake that is jackfish bay great place to fish for pike out by the island or on the south or north side.
As well on the north end of the lake many spots to fish for eyees, pike or burbot watch out for springs around some of the bays on the north end. Lot of areas on the south end of the lake that have gas pockets so ice can be thin.

That's a darn nice looking slough shark there. Don't see many of those coming out of pine lake.
