Default Look what I came across

While fishing one of our west central streams my girlfriend noticed what she thought was a bird hanging from a fishing line off a stream side branch. As i got closer I noticed it was a very lively little bat who had taken a red dry fly which had been lost to the branch. The hook was barbless so it came free quite easily and the little guy was left clinging to a tree. I have left plenty of my flies in the trees but this was a first for me.

I had one land on my hand in broad daylight while fighting a fish in southern Alberta last month. Would've been cool had I actually realized a bat had landed on my hand instead of being focused on wrestling a bull trout. First instinct was to shake the little bugger off.

I caught a frog when I was a kid.Had to get mom to release it.Two years ago caught a bird .Guess I better put a bat on the bucket list.
