Default Wolves

I know they gotta eat but arrrgh.. I've seen this boy a couple of times this year, then to find him like this....heartbreaking... If anyone want's a good spot just NE of Whitecourt to hunt wolves, I'll draw you a map to the area - I'm done with that area for the season, sigh...... From the prints, guessing 6-8 wolves, Alpha's are BIG.....

Wow, what a buck. I've also seen the most wolf and coyote tracks I ever have in 338 this year. Hoping to thin the population a little in December.

They sure seem to be spreading out. Talked to several people who have farms in WMU 507 and they have been seeing a lot more wolves over the past year.

Every single area I have worked and hunting in the last few weeks has been polluted with wolf sign. I thought last year was bad. Whats it gonna take for them to get dealt with, a rabies outbreak?

Last week I was touring around my cabin and came across very fresh wolf tracks coming out of a river and the drops were evaporating as I stood there. I went up 500 yards and found a beautiful 5x5 WT that they took down. I would have really liked that one for myself since I was seeing it for the past month

Was up in that area a few times over this season and you are right, every trail had wolf tracks on it.

Will try heading up that way to find a few to take home after Christmas.

I saw a bunch of BIG tracks in 338 this year. Scary big, and everywhere! Deer numbers do not seem to bad, however.

had quite a few PM's expressing interest... So in the interest of saving time, attached is a map to the area.... From what I saw, the whole area from the circle on the map south to the river is their turf......

My guess is nature is doing its job already. The wolves spreading out tells me they are getting hungry. With deer numbers down and a couple easier winters I think they'll starve themselves out. Hope so anyways.

I more than hope so, I am very discouraged, they have literally become a plague up here in the GP area.
I have seen 3 deer this whole season, all single does. ( while hunting) Has anyone seen a cycle this bad before that fixed itself by nature taking its course. I worked in rainbow lake last 2 winters ago for about 6 mths and it was full of wolves, saw them repeatedly and tonnes of signs of them too, never saw a deer or moose track once in 6 mths. I have no clue what they even were surviving off of.
