Default Fresh water clams as sturgeon bait?

I was on the NSR last night and saw the clams everywhere just wondering
1.) are they legal to use as bait?
2.) do they work as sturgeon bait?
Saw a few Dino's breaching last night while I was fly fishing

Clams are filter feeders, they help clean the water. Let them be, and use minnows or worms or other readily available bait, they all work.

X2, so many questions posted on here can be answered with quick phone call to F&W, that way you have the correct and legal answer.

You get a different answer every time you call ... gets frustrating after a while when the people getting paid to enforce the laws do not know them well enough to give the answers.

Yup, I've seen totally different answers by officers, totally wrong answers, and a few correct answers. Sometimes asking of other people's real life experiences help just as much or more. It also adds discussion to a forum which is a forums main goal, to create discussions and relate storys.
