As I've said in the other thread. They didn't ban the hunt... you just can't waste the meat anymore. The same law has applied to BC black bears for awhile. I've shot a black bear in BC and I plan on hunting a grizz. Nothing wrong with making abunch of pepperoni!

Default Why why why

apparently the NDP doesn't want big game hunters from other countries spending $10,000 USD on a GRizz hunt times 250 = $2 500 000 plus tips and whatever else they buy or spend on say Taxidermy.

Plus all the people that the money feeds.

With a population of 15 000 bears and no hunt you can say goodbye to moose, elk and deer populations. It's not rational to make decisions based on feelings!!!!
Apparently, truth and science do not weight heavily when it comes to NDP policy or thinking.

Although I agree it brings in money. I think your numbers are off. Unless I miss read it, that 250 includes BC resident hunters who get tags for much cheaper. And will continue to do so, as long as they eat the meat (the way they do it for black bears over there).

Seems that it won't be long before only Indians will be allowed to hunt Grizzly.

I think this is somewhat incorrect. The article gives the impression that you will not be able to remove the hide, head, or paws from the Province. So yes, you can hunt for the meat, but nothing else if you are from out of Province. Presumably, when they slapped this legislation together they did so as a way to accommodate First Nations in B.C.

But the meat is all that you take from the hunt. The paws, hide and head will be taken by the government.
