Hunting draw dates
I see by the RELM site these dates are yet to be set.
If I'm not totally fouled up, don't the draw application booklets/information usually hit public access by the end of May?

I have found the last 2 years that the draws are open long before the draw books are recived around here. If we did not download the books we would have been late getting our entries in. I hope that they are on time for once.

Yes, but it depends upon your situation - if you are new to hunting/fishing in Alberta you need a Wildlife Identification Number (a WIN card).

What takes so long to get it done and out...look at the alot of the states and they already have their draw results back.

It all has to do with our political system. Things need to be signed off for various reasons and it all takes time. Fact of the matter is though, all this panic is unwarranted. There is plenty of time to get your draws in even if the book comes out late. I'd be willing to bet that everybody already knows what they are going to do. So what's with all the panic??

Rob
My problem is mostly with scheduling of my days off, not ability to put draws in... The sooner I know the better.

This will be my first year hunting, been out for bears this spring with no luck yet. This may be a stupid question, but where can I get a draw booklet as I never entered last year? Canadian Tire?
Thanks

Draws
Draw dates ran last year from June 3 -26 (24hrs) - I think its lots of time. Even if you work out of town, I believe you can enter them online and most people have a laptop and can do them in your hotel/camp room or some camps/hotels have computers to use OR get someone else (buddy/family member) can enter them for you.

Rob, is it panic or excitement. This time of year everyone's itchin to see what's changed/new for the upcoming season. Just my 2 cents.
Cheers

Jamie, there are some new changes and I think one of them is for hunting of Cranes but we will know for sure soon. Not sure how a guy would hunt them though.
I kow it was proposed that a e-caller is allowd for predators as well and hope it went through this time.
Thre wil also be an open season for Bigfoot in the Calgary bowzone for archers. There have been a few too many sightings there.

Its not that there isnt enough time to get draws in but it would be nice on the other end to have more time to plan for a hunt if you do get drawn. Makes it easier to book time off from work and coordinate it with your partners.

X2 previous comments!
Its not the draws, its the scheduling that is determined by the draws! In many cases, if the draw is right - people are taking time off work etc., plus family has schedules too
