That's by design.
My nephew got one too. His parents got squat.
He's 18 years old. Never paid for anything in his life because he's never had a job.

The carbon tax by design is regressive, so lower income earners receive a rebate to help offset the effects of the tax.

Someone earning $35,000 a year filling their 90L tank of fuel that has the $0.07/L carbon tax (or whatever it is exactly currently) pays the same $6.30 in tax as the guy who makes $150,000 a year, but it disproportionately affects the lower income earner more, because $6.30 is higher percentage of their income.

So it really and truly is a wealth re-distribution scheme.

So how do you find out if you qualify?
Old age pensioners do not get it ?
They take enough income tax from our pension cheque.

My wife got the rebate of $125 but Ab gov sent it to Ottawa. Wife was sent $600 bill by Revenue Canada before Christmas, she sent check, so now Trud has her rebate $$ in his account, go figure.

Now we know who stole the lap top out of the UCP persons car the other day, as it had the UCP membership list in it. Now they know who not to send a rebate cheque to.
