I have a 303 Epps reamed out of a P14 Win. Anybody know where I can get another reamed to 303 Epps? I've tried all the gunsmiths in Edmonton and no luck. Was hoping of getting it done in Alberta rather than sending it to Elwood Epps in Ontario

I have owned , hunted and competed with a truckload if wildcats over the years , everything from KHornets to a big 450 Ackley AI
All were interesting and fun, and some were actually a bit of an improvement ( but not many)over the standard!

I have owned a 20 vartarg, a 338x8mmremmag and I still own a 20 tactical. When I first started shooting the 7mmstw, it was still a wildcat.

How does your Vartarg compare with the Tac .20 ? I have a Tac 20, but no experience with the Vartarg.

The 20 vartarg produces around 3700fps with a 32gr bullet, compared to 3800fps with a 39gr bullet for the 20 tac. The barrel heats up slower on the 20 vartarg, making it more suitable for ground squirrels, where you fire many rounds in a shorter time period.

.17 hornet.
7mm-08
7 rem mag
.264 rem mag.
.300 Win. Mag.
.22-250
.243 Rem
The list goes on but they were all wild cats at one time. Not a lot of rounds out there today that were not a "wildcat" at some time in their lives.

wildcat
458x2" american. Basically 450 marlin ballistics, but with normal magnum brass (cut-down brass from 7mm, 300wm, 300wby, pretty much any standard belt) but it was built on the short little remington 600 (or 660?) action. By the time the build was done, it took so much metal out of the barrel to chamber it, it looks like a .410 barrel!
SUPER light for packing in the mountains, and so short it never hangs up on anything while crawling the alders, but man you feel it when you pull the trigger too! My ultimate bush/short-range gun.

FOR 303 EPPS request on info. I would try RJC precision in Grande Prairie he is working on a 6.5 303 epps and may be able to help you with that.

Did you try Ron Smith or KS Arms?
Epps cut my 6.5/303 about 35 years ago .

Thanks Julius and Cat. KS Arms was a no go when I called, but will try Ron Smith and RJC Precision on Monday. That 6.5 303 sounds interesting, I may change my mind on another 303 Epps once I research the ballistics.
