Default Need old boat info.

While helping my son take his cover off his inboard motor i noticed the lower engine mount brackets that are attached to the boat are attached with what seem to be lag bolts. Was this common practice on some models made over 20 years ago. Also one more thing i could not figure out. There is a thin piece of what seems to be like a lead mat in the bottom of the engine compartment where the bilge pump etc. is. What might this be for ? Thank's for any replies.

I have seen several old boats that used lag bolts whether they were installed by the factory, my guess is they were.

The sheet is a drip and containment pan.
