Anyone fishing the NSR in Edmonton now in October?
Wondering how any anglers are doing fishing at the North Sask river now in October. ?
I have fished the NSR in October for many years. Beautiful time of the year to be fishing there. The water is running low and clear usually. From Edmonton to Rocky Mtn. House. It can be a phenomenal fishery in late fall. The rockie mountain whitefish move upstream in October and the big pike follow them. Closer to Drayton Valley on Oct. 20 one year I caught several big pike ranging from 10 to 25 lbs. one afternoon. And several big rockies to 4 lbs. Another time on Halloween night at dusk I was fishing about 300 meters from Jasper Avenue and 91 street and landed a 14.5 lb. walleye. Caught dozens of walleye that night.
October can be a great month for fishing the North Saskatchewan, from Drayton valley downstream and through Edmonton. Some big rocky mountain whitefish, big pike and walleye. I've also caught big rockies in front of the Goldbar water treatment plant discharge, right in Edmonton, during the winter. It doesn't freeze there.
