Default I pilot for Minn Kota Power Drive V2

Any reviews on the I pilot for Minn Kota Power Drive V2? I've been reading up on them and am serious considering buying one soon.

It's a no brainer IMO. Mine is installed on my Terrova. Just waiting on the ice...

I have it installed and tried it out already. IMO, very good. I think it's a no brainer. The only thing they need now is for it to integrate with the sonar so it stays at a specific depth, that'll be the next thing.

Now I'm confused because I thought the point of spending the mucho denaro on I Pilot was that it WOULD read off your sonar then steer the boat???

What does it do then?

Many things:

- it has GPS
- it can record 3 tracks and you can save them and use them over and over again, will auto re-trace your steps
- you can pause and resume from that track any time
- you can set a way point, return to it with a push of the button
- has a anchor lock option, single push of a button will activate the anchor and you will stay in the that spot with in 5 meters
- it has GPS controlled cruise control to perfect presentation speeds and accuracy
- it's wireless like co-pilot
- it can use GPS to keep a perfect heading
- wireless floating remote

It doesn't integrate with sonar yet.

Mmmmm... interesting. So as long as your waypoints followed a depth/ weed line then it could effectively follow a depth contour then I guess!

Yeah, you just record a track (troll where you want) and then tell it to repeat the track and it will troll exactly what you just did. Would be handy and relaxing I imagine. Check it out on you tube, there are some great videos. I have had the unit in my hand but wasnt sure about spending that much.

nicemustang, did you install the Ipilot aftermarket on the V2 or did she come loaded up? I have watched the video on you tube on how to switch the computer out and they make it look easy....Im just not that good with that stuff.

Super easy. It took me 15 minutes. Really only 4 steps. Anyone can do it.

hooked up my i-pilot today. Wasn't that easy but the instruction were good. I had co-pilot, so I had to disconnect that as well. A few more tools were needed but took me about an hour to complete and test....now for the real test... on the water..
