Default Hornady is Great Stuff

Gotta love those .30-06 165gr Hornady Interbonds. Recovered from my first Mulie buck on Saturday. 200yd spine shot from a Savage 111. Recovered weight puts retention at 94% Spine was smashed and bullet turned 180 to rest on the hide.

Heck yeah! I was in Cabelas lookin for ammo for my 06 when some random guy comes up to me and says yeah pick those ones. Points at the 165 interbonds, and walks away. I was curious where this random guy came from and one of the associates walks over and says yup listen to that guy. I forget his name but it turned out he was some writer for a gun magazine who had just done a bunch of tests on premium ammo for the 30.06. Turns out those ones out performed everything on the field. Who knew!

Nice! I've heard that it's good stuff.

I've been looking for a new factory load for my '06. care to share photos of the deer?

Just started working on a load using Hornady SST's for my dad's .270

I'm really interested in seeing how they do considering they are half the price of the Nosler Accubonds i've been buying for my 7mm RM.

That's what I hunt with primarily; in the now discontinued Light Mag load. I noticed though, that you seem a tad fickle; what with the forum name "Accubond", and you're touting Hornady

You got me there! I started out with Federal and the accubond bullet. It worked well but I could not get the accuracy/consistency I wanted. The Hornady loading is sub MOA in my rifle time after time. The last sight in check was 3 holes touching at 100m. Not bad for a $400.00 rifle and a $150.00 scope.

Notice too, how much cleaner your dirty patches are after cleaning, versus the Federal stuff. I saw that right away. Black vs tan

Here's a 150gr interbond out of a 300wsm that I shot my sheep with-112 gr retained weight.

I'm getting alot better groups with the interbond then I did with the accubond in a couple of differant rifles. They're priced better then the accubonds too.

I have shot Nosler's for years but when they went to 50 bullets per box for the same price I started buying Hornady for half the price. Now my whole bullet supply is Hornady and I reload and shoot 21 different calibers.
I like the Nosler's but they can keep them for their price.

the sst is not the same as what this thread is about. they have their place, but if you think they will be comparable to an accubond you will be disappointed. the interbond is the equivalent bullet.

Next to Remington and Winchester bulk packs, the Hornady Interlocks are about as inexpensive that a bullet can be had. I've always had very good results with them, even though I sometimes venture into the "premium" bullet choice simply because it's the reloader's curse. My brother's WT buck was taken at nearly 400 yds, complete pass thru on a broadside shot out of the lil' 7-08 (the little cartridge that can). Couldn't find the entry hole 'till we dressed him out. The entry hole was basically bullet size, exit was the size of a quarter, heart literally cut in half. You just can't ask better than that no matter what you pay for ammo.

Agree.
Hornady bullets are imo the best blend of performance and price. They're not sexy, not pumped up with fancy advertising but are consistant and kill game. I have shot 162 BTSP Interlocks out of a 7mag and have absolutely no complaints. And 250 gr 50 cal. SST's in my inline as they are the most accurate and much easier to load.

Nosler can keep their high priced btips.

*nod* After doing a bit more reading I realize that now... still going to give them a go since the only thing dad goes for these days is mule deer but i've read some people think they fragment too much and don't penetrate enough for moose and elk? Perhaps i'll have to take a look at the Interbonds as well.
