I've been out on French Bay. The trout fishing has been fantastic. The ice is only 6.5 inches about 200 yrs from the boat launch (near the flood water) but near 9 inches out further. Although I did see a Suzuki Samari out there I would not take out anything but a quad or snowmobile.

Good Luck

Default Cold Lake

I was out on French Bay 3 times in the last week and the fishing was great. The ice is starting to build but I wouldn't recommend bringing a truck out there yet. I take my quad out but you could also walk out it's not that far.

Ice in front of town beach is less than 6in, lots of floodwater also. One should not venture far. I would stay off. Most of the guys going out now are used to thin ice from seal clubbing on the rock.
