Default 2011 May 21st Sask Bear

Well I went out last night with my stepson for the first time. Nash had never been allowed to go bear hunting with his Dad. I decided that this weekend was a good time for him to learn about bear hunting. We left the farm at 1 pm to go meet the boys to finish baiting the bears, We arrived at Bear camp at 3 pm. By 4:30 pm we had finished baiting the bears and had a nice lunch. A friend Chris and I and Nash were going to go sit together at the Bait we call Falling Bear. We got into the stand at 6:30 and by 6:50 we had our first Black bear come in. Nash was really excited and could hardly sit still. Twenty minutes later a second Black bear arrived and he was really excited. Ten minutes later a Big boar came close by and chased the other two away from the bait. Ten minutes later a nice Cinnamon came in. Nothing huge by any means but very pretty. Nash looked and me and said he sure would like the Cinnamon for a rug on the wall of his bedroom. I motioned to Chris I would try to shoot him with my Longbow. Ten minutes later he finally presented a perfect quartering away shot and I put the arrow through him. 30 yards later and he was done and loaded in the quad. Nash was very excited that we got to hunt together. The bear will be into the taxidermist sometime in the next couple weeks.
