Default New Sig 550

So after much thought and debate ( 5 min ) I decided to buy this,

This is not my first sig. I must say nice finish, smooth action and great trigger. But alot of money. Well worth it as there are only five of each in Canada.

It is from the "4 seasons" collection. It is .223/5.56 It will shoot both. I don't know if I am able to put a rail on it or not for a scope. I don't want to mark the gun if I don't have to. I am planning on hitting the range today with it. Lucky the Range in Red Deer is covered.

Bad part was it was $11 under $4000, but I got a box of bullets with it. It has a 1 in 7 twist so I will have to run a 60gr or higher through it. It will make a good varmint rig. I will have to wait to hear back from Sig If I can put a rail on it.

If I can scope it I will put a 4-12 Leupold on it.

Its not a 550. 550 is prohib. It is a "Classic Green", only not green.

Default 223/5.56

I have been shooting a 7 twist 223 for 30 plus years,I can shoot 40 gr blitz kings and 69 gr wildcats and anything in between with no accuracy problems.Don't let anyone lead you down the B.S.path, most 223 owners never try more than one or two bullet weights and the BS artist that doesn't even own a 223 is the one who tells a nube what weight to shoot.By the way 223 and 5.56 are the same thing....jack

I know I have read lots of different things on bullet weights. It is just better to use a 60 gr bullet as that is what it was designed for as per the manual.

I also know that most guns can interchange 223 and 5.56. They just have very minute differences. Thickness ect.

Its a PE90 not a Sig 550.
Yes you can put a rail on it and scope it. Kyle Precision,B&T and NEIT Arms has come out with a really affordable rail.

Its the same as the Classic Green, just dressed up.

Its very easy to scope these rifles. You just have to get rings or a mount to clear the diopter. I like the PEPR. Works perfect for me with whatever I put on there.

Sportsmens Den has magazines in stock.

Default Range Report.

I took it to the range today, Yes even in this weather. I put about 50 rounds through it.

I first shot at 50 yards and I got about a 1" group with 5 rounds. I was using 75 gr hpbt match. My buddy then shot a 3 round group with 55gr sp at 50 yards. The group was a sad 3-4" group.

I then shot at 100 yards. Again using the 75gr. This time I was able to keep it in a 1" group for 3 rounds.

I tried the 55 gr at 100 and again the group was alot more open. So the gun doesn't like the lighter bullets, so far.

The 75gr were factory and the 55 were handloads. I will try some in between the 60 and 75 range to see how they do.

I would have posted pictures of targets but when I tried to take them down they just felt apart because of the rain. In the near future I will put some more pictures up.

It will shoot even better once I get some glass on the top of it.

Where did you get the 75 grainers?
Thats the thing that sucks living up here is the lack of variety of flavors in .223.

I got them from the shooting edge when I got the gun. There are a few places where you can get the bullets and reload them around Red Deer. I just moved to Spirit River so they might be hard to find up there.

If you shoot a 68 gr or so it should be about the same.
